Jayco Motorhomes

LUXURY. INNOVATION. HAPPY TRAVELERS.
IT ALL SAYS MOTORHOME.

Jayco Motorhomes are the big brothers of the motorhome world. From 26 feet upwards, Class A Motorhomes are typically built on commercial truck chassis and have the driving compartment and living quarters built over the top of this chassis. While Class A Motorhomes are the king of the road, they do come with some disadvantages.

Typical widths are 8 to 9 feet wide and they can top 12 feet in height. The size of Class A Motorhomes can make them extremely difficult to maneuver on tight roads and where camping areas are little more inaccessible. Cost of ownership issues also come into play with Class A Motorhomes, with the need for a king-sized wallet. Fuel, repairs and insurance are all going to be high. But what you get for this money is the undoubted luxury of the Class A Motorhome.

Whether you buy a Class A Motorhome new or used, be sure it fits your requirements. Areas to consider are the layout of the Class A Motorhome, what storage is available, whether the doors are convenient and how well awnings and slide outs function. You may also want to consider braking systems, hook-ups for electricity, water and sewage, and engine systems.

Class C Motorhomes are also known as Mini-Motorhomes. Generally built on a truck chassis, Class C Motorhomes have the bunk over the cab and the rest of the home sits squarely on the chassis. Sizes of Class C Motorhomes can go from 16 feet up to 34 feet.

While Class C Motorhomes are flexible, they obviously do not have the same space as a Class A Motorhome. The roof height is lower (especially if you are over 6 foot tall) and internal usable and storage space is at much more of a premium. Of course, Class C Motorhomes are a lot easier to park! Cost of ownership issues also come into play, but without the need for a king-sized wallet. Fuel, repairs and insurance for Class C Motorhomes are all going to be higher than an SUV or family car. But what you get for this money is the ability to make the outdoors your playground.

Whether you buy one new or used, be sure a Class C Motorhome fits your requirements. Areas to consider are the layout of the Class C Motorhomes, what storage is available, whether the doors are convenient and how well awnings and slide outs function. You may also want to consider braking systems, hook-ups for electricity, water and sewage, and engine systems.
